Police arrest two wanted robbery suspects in Adamawa

The Adamawa state police command has announced the arrest of two suspected armed robbers following an intelligence led operation under “Operation Sanity Mubi.”

The suspects, identified as Abdulhamid Salihu, popularly known as “Baban Anty,” and Bello Yahaya, also called “Baban Yambiyu,” were apprehended in connection with a robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara in Mubi.

According to police reports, the suspects, along with two accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly attacked one Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and robbed him of cash and other valuables.

Police operatives attached to the Mubi North and Mubi South divisions reportedly trailed and arrested the suspects after sustained intelligence gathering. Items recovered from them include mobile phones, jewelry, handbags, travelling bags, and weapons allegedly used during the operation.

The operation, conducted under the ongoing security initiative Operation Sanity Mubi, is part of efforts to clamp down on criminal activity in the area and restore public safety.

The Command confirmed that investigation is ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the remaining fleeing suspects.

Spokesperson for the Command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the police remain committed to ensuring that all those involved in the crime are brought to justice and that peace is sustained across the state.
