Immediate past Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji has alleged that the administration of Governor Peter Mbah in Enugu State is based on lies, deceit and propaganda, saying there was need to recover the state for the sake of the future.
He stated that the administration in the last three years had received over one trillion naira, regretting however that what was on ground was not commensurate with the scale of monetary receipts by the government.

Nnaji, who is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 elections in Enugu State, stated that the state would not tolerate the Mbah’s administration beyond next year.
Speaking to reporters at the Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu, at the weekend, where he was received by enthusiastic party supporters on arrival from Abuja, Nnaji stated that he decided to join the governorship race to rescue the state from “people who have decided to eat the future of our children today”.
He added: “We need recovery, we need to recover our state. I am the Chairman, Recover Enugu Committee and we are going to recover this state for our children. Our children need a future. Their future will not be brought from tomorrow and eaten today and you can see that this is what they are doing.

“Over one trillion naira has been released to this government. All the governments since democracy had not received this kind of money. All the governors have not received what had been released to the government of the day in this state for just three years; yet you cannot point to any single project that has been executed successfully. Everything is yahoo, yahoo. Everything is lies. I have never seen a government in my life that everything is based on lies like the present government in Enugu State.
“They are are either saying Nwakaibeya has a certificate problem or they say, ICPC is looking for him to arrest him. Iam here, where is the ICPC? Enugu government by media hype, government by lies. We don’t need such government in Enugu State. Enugu is made up of refined gentlemen. We need to smoke out these people from wherever they are”.
The governorship hopeful, while reacting to the practice of democracy in Enugu State, said it centered on lies by the current administration, stressing that it was evidence by the way the government cherished endorsement by the people.

“Any government that has performed does not need endorsement but here, they chase endorsement as if it is a wind. It is your work that should be your endorsement, not human beings. Our people are watching and it is for our people that I am still in this race. Otherwise, I will go home and relax. We want to put wrong things right. Let the governance be as it was before.
“The other time, I was watching a video of a small girl sent to the market by her mother to go and sell mangoes that she was carrying in a tray. The small girl moved and turned back to the mother and said, “give me Peter Mbah’s money” The mother said, “Peter Mbah’s money for the tray you are carrying? She said “yes”!. That is the level we have gone. A small girl like that is remembering that there is taxation that is killing the economy. It is a bad omen”, he declared.

Nnaji said his desire was to set up industries that would create jobs for the teeming population of the state.
He said that several existing industries had left the state as a result of high taxation to other states with friendly tax policies, assuring the people that he was prepared to wipe out their tiers.
