Former Minister Nnaji bags Women Empowerment Champion of The Year Award

The immediate past Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji has been honoured as Women Empowerment Champion of the Year, a recognition for his contributions toward the development and welfare of women in the country.

The award ceremony “Her Excellence & Award 2026” which held in Abuja also celebrated 50 outstanding women who have demonstrated excellence.

Represented by Basil Ani, the former Minister commended women for remaining pillars that hold the family and the society.

According to him, women have been key pillars of support in his entire public service, urging them to keep jointly pushing for agenda that promote their welfare.

He pledged readiness to continue to be part of the voices that shape narratives on their inclusion.

“I am deeply honoured by this recognition. It is a reminder that empowering women is not just a policy objective but a moral and social responsibility that strengthens families, communities and the nation,” he said.

“Throughout my years in public service, women have stood as strong partners and pillars of support. Their resilience, intelligence and commitment to nation building remain invaluable.”

“I will continue to lend my voice and support to initiatives that promote women’s inclusion, equal opportunities and leadership in all sectors of our national life,” he added.

The event attracted the presence of top dignitaries, including Founder Roost Foundation/ Former Director General NAPTIP, Dame Julie Donli; Founder- The Unity Project Nigeria, Jennifer Jea Serrano; Founder- Bunmi Obakoya Foundation, Dr Bunmi Obakoya, Amb Dr Toyin Kolade.

Others are, Omolara Egungbohun (LRD), Founder- IBD Foundation; Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu Ph.D, former Minister of State FCT; Ginika Tor Ijeomah – Founder Accolade Group; Her Regal Majesty; Olori Amb.
