Two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the death of a 300 level student of Microbiology department.
The deceased Mr David Ocholi Solomon of the Biochemistry department was allegedly killed by the two suspects in a cult-related violence in the school campus.
The development promoted a condolence visit by the Vice Chancellor Prof Usman Salisu Ogbo to the family of the deceased at their residence in Lokoja on Saturday.
In a statement by the Public relations officer of the University, Mrs Uredo Omale on Saturday, the suspects were arrested within two hours of the incident and have been handed over to security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
The statement confirmed that the suspects were apprehended in their hideout in Ayangba while planning to flee from town.
Uredo also confirmed that the VC was devastated by the news of the incidence while attending the 35th Annual National Conference and Convention of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA) at the University of Ibadan.
The VC, during the condolence visit said, “This is deeply painful and distressing, as the news plunged the entire University community into mourning,”. Prof Ogbo encouraged the family to have the heart to bear the irreplaceable lost of their loved one.
Meanwhile, peace has been restored in the University following the deployment of more Security to give confidence to staff and students.
