EFCC, NBA partner on corruption fight as Lagos CP mourns NAF officers

The Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to a robust, symbiotic partnership with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to ensure the seamless administration of criminal justice in Nigeria.

The Chairman who spoke through the Zonal Director, Kano Directorate of the Commission, Friday Ebelo, said this while playing host to the newly elected leadership of the NBA Kano State Branch, led by its Chairman, Sani Ammani.
The Chairman emphasized that the NBA and the EFCC are symbiotic twins that cannot be separated.

He added that the Commission operates strictly within the confines of the rule of law and the Constitution, stressing that the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights is paramount in all its operational and legal engagements.

MEANWHILE, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, has paid a condolence visit to the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Lagos, where he commiserated with the Commander 651 Base, Air Commodore M. A. Imam, over the tragic loss of Nigerian Air Force crew members and passengers in 931 Aircraft accident at Igbokoda, Ondo State.

The visit was a show of solidarity and sympathy with the Nigerian Air Force and the families of the deceased at a time of profound loss.

CP Fatai expressed his condolences over the unfortunate incident and prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families, colleagues and the entire Nigerian Air Force community.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Lagos State Police Command’s solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force and other sister security agencies, noting the importance of continued inter-agency cooperation and mutual support in the face of such difficult moments.

This is as the Command commemorated the 2026 Customer Service Week with a free medical outreach for members of the public at Computer Village, Under Bridge, Ikeja, Lagos.

The initiative was organised in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for all Police Commands to celebrate the week.

With the theme “Going Extra Miles,” the outreach demonstrated the Command’s commitment to people-oriented policing, building Police-community relations, improved service delivery, and strengthening public trust.

The medical outreach provided free health screening, blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, eye checks, medical consultations, and health counselling to members of the public.

CP Fatai expressed appreciation to residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation in maintaining peace and security across the state.

He reiterated that effective policing required public cooperation and feedback, assuring residents that the Command remained open to constructive criticism, complaints, and suggestions on its service delivery. He noted that such feedback would help improve accountability, professionalism, and public confidence in the Police.

He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to serving the people with dedication, courtesy, professionalism, and a willingness to go the extra mile.
