The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has reaffirmed that the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS) at Emeyal-1 in Ogbia Local Council Area of Bayelsa State will become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026, with plans underway to install a 2.5-megawatt Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) power plant to support industrial activities at the facility.
The Board said the power plant is one of the key requirements for the commencement of operations at the park, as it will provide a reliable and sustainable electricity supply for manufacturing and other industrial activities.
The assurance was given in a statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Communications, NCDMB, Dr Obinna Ezeobi, following an assessment visit to the facility by key personnel of the Board at the weekend.
According to Ezeobi, the inspection revealed significant progress across critical infrastructure and support systems established to position the facility as a major industrial hub for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme was conceived to deepen Nigerian Content by providing a conducive environment for the manufacturing of components, equipment, and other inputs required by the oil and gas industry.
The project is also expected to create employment opportunities for over 2,000 persons when fully operational, while stimulating economic growth.
Providing details on the status of the project, the Manager, Strategy and Transformation Projects, NCDMB, Olubisi Okunola, said several key facilities within the park had been completed and were ready for use.
He listed the completed facilities to include manufacturing shop floors, a fully functional water treatment plant, accommodation facilities, modern classrooms, an amphitheatre, and residential apartments for trainers, facilitators, and visiting guests.
“Environmental maintenance activities are also ongoing, with landscaping and routine facility upkeep being carried out across the park to preserve existing infrastructure and maintain operational readiness.
“Ongoing works at the facility are focused on ensuring that all supporting infrastructure and utilities required for seamless operations are fully in place ahead of the park’s planned operational date,” he stated
