Bauchi Senator distributes relief materials, N7m to flood victims

The Senator representing Bauchi South, Shehu Buba Umar has visited the scenes of flood that washed over 50 houses and took the lives of a 50-year-old woman and her 4-year-old granddaughter in Bara, Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Buba who visited the area on Sunday evening to sympathise with the victims who are now homeless, donated grains, mats and cash donation to assuage their suffering.

The senator, while addressing the victims at the palace of the District Head of Bara, gave the affected households N5million, N500,000 for the palace, N500,000 for the youths and N500,000 for women. Buba also added N500,000 to the family who lost their relatives.

In addition to that, the lawmaker distributed 100 bags of 25kg of rice, 100 bags of 80kg of maize, and over 100.

Recall that the incident occurred at about 10:00 last Wednesday, 10th June 2026 after a heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds while severe weather incidents resulted in the tragic loss of the victims.
