Tinubu hails troops for rescuing late General’s Wife

President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has commended Nigerian troops for the successful rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, wife of the late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was recently freed from bandits’ captivity.

The President also praised security forces for a separate operation in Kogi State that led to the killing of Ibrahim Bastuji, a notorious bandit kingpin linked to several violent crimes in the region.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the rescue operation as a demonstration of professionalism, courage and determination by the armed forces in confronting criminal elements across the country.

“The safe return of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar is a source of relief to her family and to all Nigerians,” the President said.

“I commend the intelligence coordination and bravery of the officers and men who executed the rescue operation. We owe a debt of gratitude to our troops who risk their lives daily to keep us safe.”

The President noted that the successful rescue reflects the commitment of the nation’s security agencies to protecting citizens and combating insecurity.

Tinubu also lauded troops for eliminating Bastuji during a security operation in Kogi State, describing the development as a significant blow to criminal networks operating within the state and neighbouring areas.

According to the President, the bandit leader had for years orchestrated kidnappings, attacks on communities and other violent crimes that caused immense suffering among residents.

He expressed confidence that Bastuji’s death would help restore public confidence and bring relief to communities affected by bandit activities.

“I congratulate our gallant troops on this decisive milestone. Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals,” Tinubu said.

“Those who choose the path of violence against innocent citizens will find no hiding place. This success reflects the renewed determination of our security forces to secure every inch of our land.”

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of the armed forces and other security agencies through improved funding, training and operational support to tackle banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid security operations and enhance efforts to safeguard lives and property across the country.
