Protesters storm Makinde’s residence, demand release of Oriire victims

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde

A large crowd of protesters led by popular social commentator and human rights activist, Vincent Otse, on Tuesday stormed the private residence of Seyi Makinde in Ibadan, demanding urgent action for the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The protesters, who began their march earlier from Iwo Road, moved through major parts of the city chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards with various inscriptions. They are calling for intensified efforts from government and security agencies to secure the immediate release of the victims, as concerns grow over the continued captivity of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers.

The protest, which is still ongoing at the governor’s residence in Ikolaba, has drawn the attention of residents as Governor Makinde came out to address the crowd. He assured the protesters that security agencies are actively working on the situation and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted victims.
