Seven entrepreneurs receive grants at maiden Power Move Conference

No fewer than seven entrepreneurs received financial support to grow their businesses, while hundreds of participants gained practical insights on leadership, visibility, and personal development at the maiden edition of the Power Move Conference held in Jos, Plateau State.

The conference, themed “From Hidden to Unstoppable: Take Your Seat at the Table,” attracted entrepreneurs, professionals, and aspiring leaders from different sectors, filling the Odilins Event Center to capacity and leaving many attendees standing outside the venue.

A major highlight of the event was the Pitch Your Business Grant session sponsored by Dee Utensils, where two entrepreneurs received grants of ₦500,000 each, while five others were awarded ₦100,000 each to support the expansion of their businesses. .

Beyond the financial support, participants were challenged to overcome fear, self-doubt, and limiting beliefs that often hinder personal and professional growth.

Convener of the conference, Sylvia Matlong Mbai, said the initiative was designed to encourage individuals to step into leadership opportunities and maximize their potential.

According to her, many people possess the talent and capacity to succeed but are often held back by fear, past experiences, and concerns about public perception.

The conference featured a series of sessions focused on leadership, confidence building, business growth, and strategic positioning.

Representing the Plateau State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Director of Women Affairs, Mrs. Maureen Dakim, emphasized the importance of building confidence and capacity for leadership and influence.

Other speakers included leadership expert Mrs. Hansatu Adegbite, who spoke on strategic positioning for impact, and business leader and Chief Executive Officer of Dee Utensils, Mrs. Lola Andy, who shared practical strategies for increasing visibility and accessing larger opportunities.

Participants also drew inspiration from the “Unscripted Stories” segment, where speakers shared personal experiences of resilience, entrepreneurship, and self-development.

Among them were Joy Joseph, who recounted her journey of balancing family responsibilities while building a business; Dongvel Aliyu, who highlighted the value of confidence and personal branding; and Reyit Diket Plang, who spoke on how social media opened doors to influential networks and opportunities.

The event also featured networking sessions, product exhibitions, and an action-planning exercise that encouraged attendees to commit to concrete steps toward achieving their personal and professional goals.

Organizers said testimonies have continued to emerge from participants who have begun taking bold steps in their businesses, careers, and personal lives following the conference.

The successful debut of the Power Move Conference has reinforced its goal of helping individuals move from obscurity to visibility, transform potential into action, and position themselves for greater impact in society.
