The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has rescued two children, aged one and two years, who were allegedly abandoned in an uncompleted building in Wuro Hausa, Yola South local government council.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Nyako Amidu Baba, disclosed the development during a press briefing with journalists in Yola.

According to him, the children were found crying helplessly in the middle of the night after they were reportedly abandoned by their mother. A concerned resident who noticed the situation raised an alarm, leading to the swift intervention of NSCDC personnel who rescued the minors.

Nyako stated that the children have since been placed in protective custody and are receiving proper care while investigations continue to identify and locate their parents.

He explained that preliminary findings indicate the children’s mother may have abandoned them due to her inability to provide for their welfare. However, he stressed that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The NSCDC spokesperson further revealed that the State Commandant, Commandant Idris D. Bande, has directed officers to intensify efforts to trace the parents and facilitate the children’s reunification with their family.

He added that Commandant Bande called on residents of Adamawa State to remain vigilant and pay close attention to activities within their communities.

He urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to security agencies to help strengthen security and prevent crime.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding vulnerable persons and ensuring the protection and welfare of children across the state.
