The executive chairman Kogi Government Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) Salifu Sule Enehe has stated that he is not signatory to all bank accounts of the agency.
Enehe who was reacting to an allegations of financial frauds level against him by an unknown blogger stated clearly that he is not directly involved in tax collections and would not have committed all he is been accused of.
Mr Emmanuel Yusufu, Director Income Tax of KGIRS, who address journalists in Lokoja on behalf of the executive chairman affirmed thus, “the KGIRS has accounts with all known banks domiciled in Kogi state, but the the executive chairman is not signatory to any of those bank accounts.
Yusuf said, “On the allegation that the agency operates multiple bank accounts, yes it’s true that we have a numbers of bank accounts, and all the accounts existed on the advice and directives of the State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“The executive chairman Alhaji Salifu Sule Enehe never created any bank account outside that autorised by the state government”
The agency also debunked the allegations that the executive chairman sacked revenue officers unjustly over trivial offences, saying, management does not condoned staff indiscipline especially when it touches on financial discipline”.
In the said publication, the blogger accused Enehe of cruelty and high-handedness in his relationship with staff of the organization. The blogger also claimed Enehe had arbitrarily sacked more than 15 staff of the service for pardonable offences.
The blogger also accused Enehe of “looting of taxpayers money through phoney staff training, acquired some estates in Abuja, and properties worth millions of naira while misappropriating taxpayers money through local and international trips.
The blogger asked Gov Ahmed Usman Ododo to employ the service of External Auditors to carry out a holistic audit of the monthly revenue generation, the 10 percent deductions and other expenditures.
The petitioner also recommended that the governor to suspend Enehe to allow room for independent investigation of the agency’s finances.
Enehe however said, “We consider such media publication as an attack on the chief executive of the state, and we are not going to take it lightly. Ware are going after such faceless people trying to pull down the state government. We shall get to the end of this matter through diligent investigation” he vowed.
