The Imo State Police Command has said it is aware of a video currently circulating on social media showing some police personnel assaulting a young man at Nduhobokwe, Uzoagba, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State on 22nd June 2026.
The command, in a statement on Wednesday, said following a prompt review of the incident, the six officers involved have been identified as its operatives. Their names were given as Inspector Ugochukwu Ibe, Inspector Nwachi Chimezie, Sergeant Ugoezuhu Austin, Corporal Michael Obi, Corporal Ebuka Onwuegbu, and Corporal Amos Sunny.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, has directed a thorough investigation into the incident to establish the full circumstances of the officers’ misconduct. The officers have been taken into custody, and disciplinary procedures have been initiated in line with the extant regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.
The command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on police misconduct, unprofessional conduct, and any violation of citizens’ rights. It stated that the officers’ actions, as seen in the video, are inconsistent with the values, ethics, and professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
