The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ports Terminal Multi-services Limited (PTML) Area Command and the Ports Authority Police Western Command have strengthened their collaboration to enhance security within the nation’s maritime domain.

The collaboration was intensified when the Customs Area Controller, Nura Miko and members of the Command’s management team paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the Ports Authority Police Western Command in Lagos on Thursday.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Isaac Hundeyin, the visit provided an opportunity for both agencies to reaffirm their commitment to promoting a secure, efficient and trade-friendly port environment.

Discussions at the meeting centred on strengthening cooperation between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force in the areas of port security, intelligence sharing, cargo protection, anti-smuggling operations, and the prevention of maritime-related crimes.

Both parties emphasised the critical role of inter-agency synergy in safeguarding national economic interests and facilitating legitimate trade through the nation’s seaports.

The Commissioner of Police, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, noted that effective collaboration among stakeholders remains vital to addressing emerging security challenges within the ports and ensuring the safety of port users, critical infrastructure, and maritime assets.
She congratulated the Customs Area Controller on his appointment and assured him of the Police Command’s continued support in the discharge of his duties.

Agbaminoja said the Ports Authority Police remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships with sister agencies and stakeholders towards ensuring a safe, secure, and prosperous maritime sector.

In his remarks, Miko expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by the Police Command.
He commended the Ports Authority Police Western Command for its contributions to maintaining law and order within the port environment.

Miko reiterated the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to working closely with the Police and other relevant agencies to improve operational efficiency, enhance security, and facilitate seamless trade operations.
