Police arrest two over alleged self-kidnap in Edo

The police in Edo State have arrested two suspects, Lucky Alabi ‘m’, 48, and Taiye Enahoro ‘m’, 37, who allegedly staged a self-kidnap in Uneme Akpama Community in Akoko-Edo Local Council of the state.

In a statement, the spokesperson for the command, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspects conspired to stage the fake kidnapping of Alabi. Ikoedem stated that through credible intelligence, police operatives uncovered the deceit and arrested both, after Enahoro had called Alabi’s family to demand N4 million as ransom for his release.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the criminal plan was executed on June 23, 2026, when Taiye Enahoro allegedly placed several telephone calls to relatives of Lucky Alabi, falsely claiming that Alabi had been kidnapped and demanding the sum of N4 million as ransom for his release,” the statement partly read.

“The suspects have confessed to their respective roles in the staged kidnap and will be charged in court upon conclusion of the investigation.”
