Abia LP backs Ogah, warns Onyejeocha against political distractions

The Abia State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has reaffirmed its confidence in the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Amobi Godwin Ogah, assuring constituents that the lawmaker remains focused, resolute, and committed to delivering effective representation despite recent developments involving his predecessor, former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

In a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Iroegbu Emenike, the LP disclosed that it had undertaken extensive consultations and interactions with Ogah and was satisfied that he remained in high spirits and undeterred in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities.

The party assured the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, members of LP, and Abians generally that the federal lawmaker remains fully committed to lawmaking, constituency development, and the protection of the interests of those who freely entrusted him with the mandate in the 2023 general election.

According to the statement, Ogah cannot be intimidated, distracted, or discouraged from carrying out the responsibilities for which he was elected, and it urges constituents to remain calm and continue to support their representative.

The party emphasised that democracy thrives on the freely expressed will of the people, noting that the outcome of the 2023 general election reflected the electorate’s decision to embrace a new direction, with Ogah emerging victorious through what it described as a transparent democratic process.

The party also advised Onyejeocha to allow the serving lawmaker to concentrate on the mandate given to him by the people and to avoid actions that could create unnecessary political distractions.

Meanwhile, the Abia State LP Chairman, Peter Azubuike, has argued that Onyejeocha would have retained her ministerial position and allowed Ogah to return to the House, and thus make Abia hold both positions.

Although he argued that Onyejeocha has the right to recontest the position as many times as she pleases, Azubuike, however, vowed that Ogah will defeat her in the 2027 election.
