Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Simplified IQ Labs Ltd (SimplifiedIQ) to strengthen scientific and digital approaches to noise pollution management and environmental compliance across the state.
The signing ceremony, held at the agency’s Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, marks a significant milestone in the state’s commitment to deploying innovative technology-driven solutions that will improve environmental regulation, noise pollution regulation monitoring, public participation, and enforcement.
General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, described the partnership as another major step towards building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable state through innovation and technology.
Ajayi noted that the collaboration reflects government’s commitment to strengthening environmental governance by adopting transparent, efficient, and digitally enabled regulatory systems.
According to Ajayi, the MoU will modernise noise pollution management through the deployment of digital tools for environmental reporting, compliance monitoring, documentation, and enforcement.
He added that the initiative aligns with the state government’s vision of promoting environmental responsibility through education, stakeholders’ engagement, and sustainable compliance rather than relying solely on punitive enforcement measures.
He, however, revealed that the partnership would establish a unified digital platform through which environmental infractions could be reported, tracked, monitored, and resolved more efficiently.
Ajayi said that upon successful completion of the mandatory training and compliance process, participants would receive verifiable digital certification, while residents and communities will also have enhanced opportunities to report environmental violations through the platform.
He described the collaboration as a transformative initiative that would strengthen the agency’s capacity to deliver smarter, data-driven environmental regulation.
In his remarks, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Simplified IQ Labs Ltd, Sam Obi, stated that the MoU demonstrates the state government’s unwavering commitment to embracing innovative solutions that enhance environmental protection, especially noise pollution, while promoting a culture of compliance through education, technology, and strategic partnerships.
The agency’s Director of Noise Control Unit, Abosede Natufe, called on residents, businesses, institutions, religious organisations and other stakeholders to support the initiative by embracing responsible environmental practices and working collectively towards achieving a cleaner, quieter, healthier, and more sustainable Lagos State.
