PYLN endorses Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya for NBA presidency

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN)

The Progressive Young Lawyers Network (PYLN) has endorsed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya as its preferred candidate for the presidency of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her as a leader with the experience and vision to advance the legal profession.

In a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Uthman Isa Tochukwu, Esq., the group said the endorsement followed what it described as a careful assessment of the candidates and their respective plans for the Bar.

According to the organisation, Badejo-Okusanya’s professional record, leadership experience and longstanding commitment to the welfare and development of young lawyers informed its decision.

The group highlighted her role as Senior Partner at ALP NG & Co., her membership of the Board of the Lagos Court of Arbitration and her service as Chair of the NBA 2024 Annual General Conference Planning Committee.

PYLN also cited her participation in several programmes organised for young lawyers, including the NBA Ikeja Branch Young Lawyers’ Forum Legal Summit, the NBA Degema Branch Young Lawyers’ Forum Annual Symposium and the Lagos Hangout 2026, describing the engagements as evidence of her commitment to mentorship, ethical practice and professional development.

The statement further noted her advocacy for gender inclusion, justice sector reform and the adoption of technology within legal practice through her involvement with the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria).

“At a time when the Nigerian Bar Association requires transformational leadership, institutional strength and a clear vision for the future, we are confident that Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya possesses the experience, competence, courage and capacity to lead the Association into a new era of progress,” Tochukwu said.

The organisation urged lawyers across the country, particularly younger practitioners, to support Badejo-Okusanya’s candidacy, describing her as a candidate whose career reflects professionalism, innovation, integrity and commitment to the legal profession.

The endorsement comes days after former Minister of Education and founder of Fix Politics Nigeria, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, endorsed Badejo-Okusanya in the race for the presidency of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

In a post on her verified X account, Ezekwesili described Badejo-Okusanya as a legal practitioner whose experience and commitment to professional ethics make her well-suited for the leadership of the association.

“I am delighted to see that the brilliant and amazing Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, is running for NBA President,” Ezekwesili wrote.

She said Badejo-Okusanya’s work in professional ethics, arbitration, governance and improving the welfare of young lawyers reflects the priorities the legal profession requires at this time.
