The Lagos State Government has postponed all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026, following the declaration of the Oro Festival in parts of the Ikorodu Division.
The decision, announced by the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education through the Lagos State Examinations Board, came after consultations with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of candidates, examination officials, and other participants.
The affected papers will now be written on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, while the rest of the examination timetable remains unchanged.
Authorities said the adjustment is a precautionary measure aimed at preventing disruptions and ensuring the smooth conduct of the state-wide examination.
The board advised candidates to obtain the revised timetable from their schools and prepare accordingly, while apologising for any inconvenience caused by the change.
