The legal battle over the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency took a fresh turn on Wednesday as the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba state, adjourned proceedings in the matter to July 15, 2026.

The case, which challenges the conduct of the APC primary election that produced the party’s candidate for the constituency, came before Justice Mashkur Salisu.

During the proceedings, the court considered applications filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Prince Tafida Abas, the lawmaker representing Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Both applicants are seeking leave of the court to be joined as parties in the suit to enable them defend the claims brought against them.

Justice Salisu subsequently adjourned the matter until July 15, 2026, to hear the case after the applications for joinder.

The outcome of the suit is expected to attract significant political attention, as it concerns the legitimacy of the APC primary election for one of Taraba state’s key federal constituencies ahead of the next stage of the electoral process.

With the adjournment, all parties are expected to return to court on the scheduled date for the hearing of the substantive issues in the case, as well as the pending applications seeking their formal inclusion in the proceedings.
