Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies collected 80.66 percent of the N252.43 billion billed to customers in April, according to data released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
The figures showed that the 11 electricity distribution companies, known as DisCos, billed customers a combined N252.43 billion during the month but recovered N203.61 billion, leaving about N48.82 billion uncollected.
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company recorded the highest revenue collection, receiving N37.55 billion from billings of N44.36 billion.
Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company followed with N37.34 billion collected from N41.50 billion billed, while Eko Electricity Distribution Company recovered N36.87 billion from billings of N39.12 billion.
Together, the three companies accounted for more than half of the total revenue collected nationwide during the month.

Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company posted one of the highest collection rates, recovering N15.83 billion from N17.32 billion billed. Benin Electricity Distribution Company also recorded a strong performance, collecting N16.34 billion from N17.10 billion billed.
Among the northern distribution companies, Kano billed N16.04 billion but recovered N8.00 billion, representing about half of the amount invoiced.
Kaduna collected N5.83 billion from N10.52 billion billed, while Jos recovered N6.51 billion from billings of N11.05 billion. Yola billed N5.30 billion and collected N3.63 billion.
The data indicates wide variations in collection performance across the country’s electricity distribution network, with some companies recovering more than 90 percent of billed revenue while others collected little more than half.
Revenue collection is a key indicator of the financial health of Nigeria’s power sector, as distribution companies rely on customer payments to settle obligations to electricity generation companies and the market operator.
The figures, published by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission reflect the billing and revenue performance of the country’s electricity distribution companies for April 2026.
