2027: Ndigbo Group backs LP presidential candidate, okays Otti’s re-election

A prominent Igbo socio-cultural group, Nzuko Arochukwu Kingdom, Abuja Branch, has endorsed the presidential ambition of Labour Party (LP) aspirant Dr. Chibuzo Okereke and the second-term bid of Abia State Governor Alex Otti ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Sunday during a reception at the Cyprian Ekwensi Arts and Culture Centre, Abuja, where members of the association received Okereke and pledged their support for his presidential aspiration and Otti’s re-election.

President-General of Nzuko Aro, Abuja Branch, Mazi Ogundu, said the decision followed extensive consultations among members, who expressed confidence in the leadership qualities, integrity and public service records of both Okereke and Otti.

He described Okereke as a distinguished son of Arochukwu Kingdom whose contributions to philanthropy, community development and nation-building have earned him widespread respect.
According to him, the endorsement reflects the group’s belief that the Labour Party aspirant possesses the vision and competence needed to steer Nigeria through its current socio-economic and governance challenges.

The group also reaffirmed its support for Governor Otti’s administration in Abia State, commending what it described as prudent management of public resources, infrastructure renewal and governance reforms since he assumed office in 2023.

Responding, Okereke thanked the leadership and members of Nzuko Aro for the confidence reposed in him, describing their endorsement as a source of encouragement and motivation.

He pledged to remain committed to a leadership style anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, national unity and sustainable development.
The Labour Party aspirant also commended Ndi Aro in Abuja and across the world for supporting Governor Otti’s administration, describing the governor’s performance as proof that transparent and people-centred leadership can deliver meaningful development.

Okereke, who holds the traditional title of Ikemba-Aro, conferred on him by Eze Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro IX of Arochukwu, is a businessman, philanthropist and politician. His presidential ambition is built around a “Nigerians First” agenda focused on economic growth, security, job creation and institutional reforms.

Governor Otti, a former banker and economist, was elected governor of Abia State on the Labour Party platform in 2023. His administration has prioritised infrastructure renewal, healthcare, education, public financial management and reforms aimed at repositioning the state for long-term growth.

The event concluded with special prayers led by elder statesman Mazi Clifford Oji, who prayed for divine guidance and success for Okereke’s presidential aspiration and Otti’s political future.

Members of Nzuko Aro, Abuja Branch, also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting good governance, national unity and sustainable development as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
