The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has urged organisations in both the public and private sectors to reposition their workforce strategies for greater value creation and sustainable impact amid rising economic uncertainty, technological disruption and changing workplace expectations.
Speaking ahead of the 58th International Conference and Exhibition (ICE 2026) of CIPM, scheduled for September 21 to 24 in Abuja, the institute’s President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Ahmed Gobir, said organisations must place human capital at the centre of their transformation and growth agenda.
Gobir noted that organisations across the globe are grappling with multiple challenges, including economic volatility, talent shortages, digital transformation and shifting employee expectations, stressing that such realities demand a fundamental rethink of how businesses create and sustain value.
According to him, the fast-changing world of work has made it imperative for leaders to rethink talent attraction, development, engagement and retention while ensuring their organisations remain agile and future-ready.
He said human resource (HR) management has moved beyond administrative responsibilities to become a strategic driver of business performance, innovation, productivity and sustainability.
Gobir explained that the conference theme: ‘Repositioning for Value and Impact,’ reflects the growing urgency for organisations to reassess their operational structures, strengthen workforce capabilities and align people strategies with broader business goals.
He warned that organisations that fail to adapt to the changing workplace environment risk losing relevance and competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic global economy.
He added that the conference would serve as a strategic platform for HR professionals, business leaders, policymakers, academics and industry experts to explore practical solutions to emerging workplace challenges and opportunities.
Gobir said participants would gain actionable insights, innovative frameworks and forward-looking strategies to help organisations navigate complexity and achieve long-term growth.
