G15 urges Kwarans to disregard APC candidates, seeks PBAT’s intervention

Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) popularly known as G15 solidarity rally in Ilorin

The aggrieved faction of the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC), known as the G15 and led by former state chairman, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), has declared that the party has no recognised candidates for the 2027 general elections in the state.

The group made the declaration on Monday during a solidarity rally in Ilorin after returning from weeks of consultations with the APC national leadership over the outcome of the party’s May 24 primaries.

Among those who participated in the rally were 2027 governorship aspirants, including Ambassador Yahaya Seriki, Senators Sulaiman Umar Sadiq, Lola Ashiru and Toyin Alabi, as well as Bolarinwa himself. Also present were serving members of the House of Representatives, except Raheem Olawuyi.

Supporters of the group marched from Idiagbon International Airport through Gerin Alimi, Sawmill and Taiwo Road before terminating the procession at the Post Office in Ilorin.

Addressing supporters, Bolarinwa urged party members to disregard what he described as a “fake” list of APC candidates, insisting that no valid candidates had emerged for any elective office ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Our position is that the APC has not produced candidates for any position in 2027,” he said.

He appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC national leadership to intervene in the lingering crisis within the Kwara chapter of the party.
According to him, the dispute is not about personalities but about the process that produced the candidates.

“When we talk about the process, we mean the primaries for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship. There must be inclusiveness, where all stakeholders are carried along. Many party leaders and elders were sidelined, and that is why we have come together to rescue our party,” he said.

Bolarinwa further alleged that the current leadership of the party in the state had failed to accommodate critical stakeholders who worked for the APC’s victory in 2019.
The Senator representing Kwara Central, Saliu Mustapha, also addressed the gathering, thanking supporters and members of the media for their turnout.

He said the protest was aimed at rejecting what he described as an unfair candidate selection process.

“We are not against any individual. What we reject is the process and the manner in which certain candidates were endorsed. As stakeholders in the APC, we believe there should be equity, fairness and proper consultation before decisions are taken,” Mustapha said.

He maintained that the rally was not driven by personal ambition but by the desire to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Also speaking, Senator Lola Ashiru, who represents Kwara South, accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of pursuing actions capable of destabilising the APC in the state.

Former Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe joined Ashiru in calling on President Tinubu to intervene and facilitate an unconditional reconciliation among the party’s warring fact
