The Bauchi State Police Command said it has arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly luring an eight-year-old girl into his room and sexually abusing her.

According to the police, the incident was reported to ‘E’ Division, Yelwa, on July 5, 2026, by the victim’s mother, a resident of Dorawan Dillalai in the Bauchi metropolis.

The complainant reportedly told the police that the suspect, one Muhammad Makama, of the same address, lured her daughter into his room and defiled her.

Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said the operatives immediately rushed the victim to the police clinic for medical examination and treatment, and the suspect taken to the same facility for treatment after being assaulted by some angry members of the community, and subsequently discharged.

“The case is under investigation at the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the act and assured that the command would ensure justice in accordance with the law
