The members of Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) have described the rescue of kidnapped students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State as a great relief for the nation, just as they commended the operation of the security agencies.

The group said that it noted with profound relief and commendation the successful rescue of the kidnapped victims by the gallant security agencies, alongside the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers.

In a statement issued on Saturday, by the AYA Speaker, Muhammed Salihu Danlami, “this courageous operation represents a defining moment in the ongoing fight against banditry and the abduction of innocent schoolchildren.”

He said, “we wish to specially recognise the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Director General of the Department of State Services, Mr Ajayi Oluwatosin, for the supply and coordination of vital intelligence that led to this operational success”, pointing out that “the seamless fusion of actionable intelligence and precise execution underscores a refreshing level of synergy that has long been desired in our security architecture.

Danlami remarked, “their strategic oversight and dedication behind the scenes gave the brave men and women on the front line the clarity and confidence to strike decisively.”

Said he: “we heap unreserved praises on the Service Chiefs under whose watch and direct command this delicate mission was planned and accomplished. Their leadership, operational discipline, and unwavering commitment to restoring safety in our communities have once again been validated.”

According to him, “through their calm and focused direction, the troops were empowered to carry out a complex rescue without jeopardising the lives of the innocent captives. The outcome in Orire is a loud testament to the renewed sense of purpose they have instilled across the services.”

“Our profound gratitude flows to the gallant troops who risked their lives and put themselves in harm’s way to secure the freedom of the abducted pupils and their teachers. We salute their bravery, unquestionable loyalty, burning patriotism, and the quiet sacrifices they make each day far from their own families. These men and women exemplify the very best of our national character, and their courage fortifies the hope of every Nigerian. They have our deepest respect and unflinching support”, the statement added.

Danlami continued: “we call on all Nigerians to remain vigilant and to continue to supply security operatives with credible tips and information. Citizens remain the most critical link in the early warning chain, and no piece of intelligence is too small. Community cooperation must not waver, because every child rescued is a victory for the entire nation.

The statement further stressed, “we extend our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for providing the enabling environment and the political will that allowed this operation to succeed. We respectfully urge Mr President to continue to support our security agencies and the armed forces with all necessary resources, particularly increased funding and the provision of modern equipment. A well-equipped and well-motivated force is the surest guarantee that such heroic feats will be repeated and that criminal elements will find no breathing space anywhere in Nigeria.”

It added, “the Arewa Youth Assembly remains firmly committed to the security, unity, and progress of our beloved country. We congratulate everyone who played a part in bringing the Orire pupils and teachers home safely, and we pray for the continued success and protection of all our security personnel.”
