The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has commended the anti-smuggling campaigns across its theatres of operation, saying they have continued to strangulate and diminish the terrorists’ logistical capabilities as troops continue to intercept their logistics suppliers, recovering larger quantities of supplies, including food, medicine, cash, arms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, security forces have reportedly neutralised a notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Sani, popularly known as Yellow, who had terrorised the Anka-Bagega axis of Zamfara State for years. Sani was said to have been killed on July 10, 2026, during a joint operation by security forces and local vigilantes in the Anka Local Council Area of the state.
Speaking to newsmen during a weekly news briefing, the Director of Defence Media Operations (DMO), Maj-Gen. Michael Onoja, said that between July 3 and 9, 2026, eight terrorists’ suppliers, comprising three in the North-East and five in the North-West, were nabbed.
Among others, he added that on July 5, troops intercepted and arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Gubio town in Borno State, recovering a Volkswagen Golf vehicle loaded with construction materials, solar panels and the sum of N47,650.
Also, a suspected ISWAP/JAS logistics supplier was apprehended on the same day along One Million Road in the Damaturu Metropolis, with five motorcycle tyres intended for delivery to enclaves in the Tarmuwa Local Council Area of Yobe State, intercepted.
Nevertheless, security sources confirmed on the grounds of anonymity that Yellow was neutralised at Dan Jibga Market after bandits attacked construction workers in the area.
It was gathered that the troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, police operatives and other local security outfits engaged the criminal elements in an exchange of fire.
Said to be one of the most influential bandit commanders across the forests of Anka, Bukkuyum, Maru and neighbouring council areas, intelligence reports linked him to massive abductions for ransom targeting schools, villages and highways, as well as deadly raids that displaced thousands of residents and shut down farming communities.
