The Chief Executive Officer of The Chair Centre Group, Dr Ibukun Awosika, has urged Nigerians seeking career success and sustainable businesses to remain teachable, humble, build meaningful relationships and embrace continuous learning.
Speaking at an empowerment summit organised by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Team of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Region 59 Headquarters (HQ), Lagos, at the weekend, Awosika said long-term success is built on knowledge, discipline and the willingness to keep learning.
The former Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria said the knowledge people acquire today will remain valuable in the future, stressing that building a future that works requires respect for every individual, regardless of gender or age, because everyone carries unique value.
She identified financial management, education, transferable skills, purposeful planning, sound decision-making, discipline, networking and continuous self-reinvention as essential ingredients for building a successful career and business.
According to her, sustainable businesses are built by focusing on long-term goals while executing short-term strategies.
“A teachable heart is a progressive heart. Anticipate your project and understand your market. Know what the problem is because it is your strategic advantage. You also cannot afford not to have multi-generational thinking,” she said.
Also speaking, Global Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) expert and Founder of Ibile Vogue, Dr Temitope Olanre-Alade, described vocational skills as a critical driver of financial empowerment and national development.
She said skills do not replace formal education but represent its highest expression, adding that countries that equip their young people with practical competencies are building not only workers but a stronger future.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ubosi Eleh + Co, Chudi Ubosi, highlighted the opportunities in the real estate sector, describing it as a profitable long-term investment despite the patience it requires.
Assistant Pastor in Charge of Region 59 Headquarters (CSR), RCCG, Bayo Olugbemi, said the programme was designed to empower Nigerians through knowledge and investment opportunities across different sectors of the economy, enabling them to become productive contributors to national development.
Coordinator of CSR, Region 59 Headquarters, RCCG, Kunle Eyitemi, said the summit was intended to inspire hope and encourage participants to develop their talents and pursue success.
