eTranzact seeks deeper partnership with FG on digital payment infrastructure

L-R: Mr Taiwo Oyedele, Honourable Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Niyi Toluwalope; MD/CEO eTranzact Plc and Mr. Abubakar Achimugu; ED, Government Relations and Special Projects, eTranzact Plc during a courtesy call to the Ministry of Finance in Abuja.

eTranzact International Plc has called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and indigenous technology firms to deepen Nigeria’s digital payment infrastructure, arguing that scalable digital systems will be critical to achieving the country’s $1 trillion economy target.

The company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Niyi Toluwalope, made the call during a strategic engagement with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, where discussions focused on technology-driven solutions for government revenue collection, public expenditure management, digital identity verification, last-mile social intervention payments and local currency settlement under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Toluwalope said efficient public service delivery depends on digital infrastructure that can operate securely and at scale, noting that closer collaboration between government and indigenous technology providers would accelerate innovation, strengthen financial inclusion and unlock broader economic opportunities.

According to him, eTranzact’s priority is to provide secure, resilient and interoperable payment infrastructure that supports enterprise growth while expanding access to financial services across the country.

Responding, oyedele said partnerships with indigenous technology companies align with the Federal Government’s economic and fiscal priorities, adding that local firms have a critical role to play in improving public service delivery, expanding financial inclusion and supporting sustainable economic growth.

Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as a Switching and Processing company and Mobile Money Operator, eTranzact has operated in Nigeria’s electronic payments industry for more than two decades. In 2024, the company introduced a digital verification solution for the Military Pensions Board, enabling pensioners in Nigeria and abroad to verify their identities remotely.

The engagement comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to expand its tax and revenue base through digital platforms aimed at improving revenue collection and enhancing the efficiency of public spending.
