…Urges speedy assent by President Tinubu
The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) has commended the Senate for passing the Bills repealing the Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology, Jos, and establishing the Federal University of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology, Jos, describing it as a historic victory for healthcare education, scientific innovation, and national development.
AMLSCN appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,to grant Presidential Assent to this Bill without delay adding that its signing will accelerate healthcare transformation, strengthen national health security, expand educational opportunities, and leave a lasting legacy in both the health and education sectors.
In a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. National President, of the association,.Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi observed that the passage of the Bill reflects the National Assembly’s commitment to building a stronger health workforce and expanding opportunities for future generations of Nigerians.
Ifeanyi stated that the new University will serve as a centre of excellence for diagnostics, biotechnology, research, innovation, advanced healthcare training and will expand admission opportunities, produce highly skilled professionals, stimulate cutting-edge research, and strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to respond to emerging health challenges.
According to him, the evolution of the Jos College into a specialized University is a significant step in advancing this vision.
He said, “On behalf of over 150,000 members of the Medical Laboratory Science workforce, I commend the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their vision, patriotism, and unwavering support for this transformative initiative.This is more than the creation of a University. It is an investment in Nigeria’s future, an investment in innovation, and an investment in the health and prosperity of generations yet unborn”.
