The Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has downplayed the defection of some of its members to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), insisting that the party remains united, strong and focused on the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mal. Shehu Dauda, the APC said while individuals have the right to make their political choices, the exit of a few members should not be interpreted as evidence of the party’s decline or a shift in Bauchi State’s political landscape.

According to the statement, attempts to portray the defections as a sign of growing political momentum against the APC do not reflect the reality on the ground.

The party maintained that its strength lies in the resilience of its structures, grassroots support, disciplined membership and continued connection with the people, stressing that it remains firmly established across the state.

The APC further claimed that the defectors had, over time, become increasingly disconnected from the party’s collective decisions, discipline and political direction, adding that their formal exit merely confirmed an existing separation rather than any significant loss to the party.

It said its structures remain active across the state’s 20 local government areas and 323 wards, noting that mobilisation efforts are ongoing as the party prepares for the next general elections.

The party reiterated that its priority is to secure Bauchi State for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, reclaim the Government House, and win seats in the National Assembly, State House of Assembly and other elective positions in the 2027 polls.

The APC also called on its members and supporters to remain committed to grassroots mobilisation, expressing confidence that it remains the credible and disciplined alternative for the people of Bauchi State.
