The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State has intensified grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections with the inauguration of the “Smart Movement for Sheriff 2027,” aimed at securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and ensuring sweeping victories for all APC candidates.
The initiative was formally launched yesterday in Ogwashi-Uku by the Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh, who described the movement as a strategic grassroots platform designed to consolidate support for the ruling party across all elective positions.
The event attracted a large gathering of party stalwarts, government officials, traditional rulers, women and youth groups, as well as APC members from across the local government area.
It also featured an empowerment programme during which residents received cash grants and business equipment.
Addressing supporters, Ufoh declared that the movement’s objective was to deliver what he termed a “Five-over-Five” electoral victory for the APC in 2027.
“Our mission is clear. Our target is Five-over-Five. From the Presidency to the Governorship, the Senate, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly, Aniocha South must stand united for the APC,” he stated.
The commissioner charged members of the movement to commence aggressive grassroots mobilisation in all wards and communities, urging them to showcase the achievements of Governor Oborevwori’s administration and work towards ensuring victory for all APC candidates.
Highlighting developments in the education sector, Ufoh said the governor had demonstrated strong commitment to technical and vocational education through the upgrading of technical colleges, provision of modern equipment and implementation of policies aimed at equipping young people with globally competitive skills.
“As Commissioner for Technical Education, I have witnessed firsthand the governor’s commitment to technical and vocational education. Our technical colleges are being upgraded, equipment is being provided and policies are being implemented to equip our youths with globally competitive skills,” he said.
He further noted that the empowerment programme underscored the movement’s belief that governance should be driven by economic inclusion and self-reliance, stressing that leadership must create opportunities capable of improving citizens’ livelihoods.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the APC in Delta North Senatorial District, Chief Moses Iduh, commended Ufoh for complementing the developmental agenda of Governor Oborevwori through direct empowerment initiatives.
Iduh disclosed that the commissioner distributed 12 grinding machines, 11 sewing machines and cash support amounting to N1.65 million to beneficiaries, describing the gesture as a practical example of people-centred leadership.
“There are people whose greatest challenge today is N50,000 or N100,000. Meeting such needs can completely change their lives. Every leader should empower the people in whatever way possible because it strengthens both the people and the party,” he said.
Also speaking, the Delta State Commissioner for Riverine Infrastructure, Hon. Ebikeme Clark, lauded Ufoh for deepening political participation at the grassroots through community engagement and empowerment initiatives.
Clark described the Smart Movement as a formidable political platform capable of strengthening the APC’s structures in Aniocha South and contributing significantly to the party’s broader objective of securing victories in all elective positions in 2027.
