The need to build trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) products and equip young Nigerians with skills for the digital economy dominated discussions at ThriveFest 3.0, a youth summit organised by AIESEC in Enugu, which attracted more than 600 participants at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Held under the theme, “Creators in the Age of AI: Where Creativity Meets Intelligence,” the two-day event brought together young people, industry professionals and policymakers to discuss opportunities and challenges within the creator economy and emerging technologies.

Among the sessions was “From Ideas to Impact: Building Products that Earn Trust in the Age of AI,” presented by the founder of Africa Tech Factory, Kelechi Ndieze, who said technological innovation alone is insufficient without products addressing real user needs and maintaining public trust.

He urged developers and entrepreneurs to prioritise transparency, ethical standards and user confidence as AI becomes more widely integrated into digital products and services.

The summit also featured discussions on product management, digital storytelling, content monetisation and career opportunities within the media and technology sectors.

Speaking also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy & SME Development, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Ofiah described the creative economy as a growing contributor to employment and economic activity, stressing the need for collaboration among government, the private sector and youth organisations to support innovation.

The event also featured a creators’ workshop—an exhibition by five innovative businesses to foster networking, collaboration and new business relationships and a design challenge organised in partnership with Canva to equip participants with hands-on creative and digital skills.

According to the organisers, the summit forms part of AIESEC in Enugu’s annual programme focused on youth development and digital skills.
