Osun polls: Ijesa axis’ dues guaranteed in my govt, says Oyebamiji

APC gubernatorial candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, during a campaign

The standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next month gubernatorial poll in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, on Thursday took his campaign to the country home of the national secretary of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, assuring that Ijesa axis will get its dues under his administration if elected.

Oyebamiji, who vowed that his government would not condone deceit and hypocrisy, lamented the non completion of N48.7 billion Water Project, embarked on by previous administration in the state in 2017.

Speaking at the palace of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, he stated, “We are not going to lie to the people or deceive them. I can assure you that our government will not be guided by hypocrisy. We will not concentrate the use of state resources on one community or town. We will govern the state fairly and responsibly.

“We have seen a lot of things we need to do in Ilesha and its environs, I was part of the people that sat to review the Ilesha water project during the Rauf Aregbesola-led administration, by now I am pained today because I was supposed to be boasting of this project, am pained.

“After all, the project wasn’t executed. I told the present administration that it will continue from where we stopped because we were almost at completion.
By God’s Ilesha water project will be executed and completed if elected, Oyebamiji remarked.

He, however, defended Aregbesola’s administration on the payment of half salary to senior civil servants during the economic meltdown, contending that the decision was taken to avert mass sack of workers in the state.

“At that time, 17 states retrenched workers. Before the then governor concluded his tenure, I met with him and offered my recommendations. I even suggested someone else for the position of Commissioner for Finance, but your son (Aregbesola) chose to appoint me instead, “Oyebamiji remarked.

In his remark, Oba Haastrup acknowledged the moral and financial support of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, during his ascension to the throne.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC-led Federal Government for the concrete dualisation of Ibadan-Ilesa expressway.

“I will continue to pray that God answer your prayer. All the people know the importance of having a good government and the support of federal is impactful in any state. That is what we have seen in the ongoing road, “Oba Haastrup posited.
