Against the backdrop of August 15 governorship poll in Osun, the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, yesterday allayed the fears of the electorate, saying they should not be distracted by rumour of violence.

There had been pockets of violence, killings and gunmen attacks in the past few weeks, which resulted in some parts of the state, most especially Osogbo, Ilobu, Ilesa and other areas of the state.

However, during his campaign to Ifelodun/Odo-Otin/Boripe Federal Constituency, Oyebamiji assured the people that despite fear occasioned by recent incidents of violence, the election will be peaceful.

His campaign train moved from Ikirun where he addressed supporters at the town hall before moving through Iree, Ada, Aagba, and move to Iragbiji town, the country home of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.

Oyebamiji stated, “Don’t be distracted by the rumour that the election will be violent, the government in place is now due and will be sacked by August 15 and a new era of development will usher in.”

“I am assuring you that no one can intimidate or harass you not to participate in the poll. Any thug or hoodlum caught harassing people will be severely dealt with by security operatives.”

While promising that the APC will provide better alternative to the current Accord Party-led administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Oyebamiji said there was cause for fear and tension, urging the eligible voters to vote massively for the APC.

According to Oyebamiji, “I am urging you to keep your PVC safe, those that just registered, please go and get it on time, liaise with our party officials at LG level to make getting your PVC easy. Once you get it, don’t sell it, it is your power and licence to take part on the August 15 election.

“For the rural areas, our focus is to use agriculture to develop your economy and provide basic infrastructure that will encourage farmers and reduce hunger among the populace of the state. I will ensure that health, education and commerce get all the necessary attention.

The campaign train met with traditional rulers in Odo-Otin at the Olokuku palace before addressing supporters at the market square.
