Ambassador-designate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Portugal, Angela Adebayo; and the ambassador-designate to the Republic of Korea, Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut, have presented Letters of Credence to their respective countries of service.

Adebayo presented her letters to the Secretary-General of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Francisco Ribeiro Telles.

The presentation marks an important diplomatic milestone preceding the formal presentation of her Letters of Credence to the President of the Portuguese Republic, Antonio Jose Seguro.

In her case, Daduut assumed office as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea after presenting her Letter of Credence to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the Blue House in Seoul.

The credential presentation ceremony, held on Wednesday, saw President Lee receive letters of credence from eight newly appointed ambassadors, officially accrediting them to begin their diplomatic assignments in South Korea.

Daduut, in a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Jos, read that she was among ambassadors from Brazil, El Salvador, Colombia, Laos, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Tanzania and Nigeria, who were formally received by the South Korean leader.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mrs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has held bilateral talks with Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, on the sidelines of the Eurafrican Forum.

Both ministers explored institutional frameworks aimed at strengthening diplomatic engagement and the need to establish a Nigeria-Portugal Joint Commission as a platform to facilitate regular political consultations and expand bilateral cooperation.
