The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled the hearing to decide the winner of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.

Sports journalist, Ben Jacobs, on Friday reported that CAS has set an October 8, 2026 hearing for Senegal’s appeal against the March 2026 decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip them of the 2025 AFCON title after a pitch walk-off in the final against host nation, Morocco.

“The hearing will involve the Senegalese Football Federation, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation,” Jacobs wrote on X.

“The appeal seeks to overturn a CAF decision declaring that the Senegal national team forfeited the AFCON 2025 final, thus awarding it to Morocco.

“The parties did not agree to expedite this procedure, which is therefore following a standard timeline according to CAS procedural rules. The hearing will take place behind closed doors.”

After the hearing, according to Jacobs, a CAS panel will start its deliberations.

CAF’s appeals board awarded Morocco a 3-0 forfeit win despite Senegal’s on-field 1-0 extra-time victory, citing regulations on match abandonment following chaotic scenes including a pitch invasion.

The case proceeds on a standard timeline without expedition, meaning a final ruling could come months after the hearing with the title outcome still unresolved.
