Fast-rising Afrobeats force, Mavo, released his highly anticipated album, Business, yesterday via Inner Circle Entertainment under exclusive licence from Kilogbede Records.
Coming on the heels of a dominant run of chart-climbing singles, the 13-track project which include: Business, Jehovah, God’s Promise, M2B, Letter To My Baby, Superwoman, Ice Cream, Use Me, Mofe, Shy Lover, Slow, Poison, and BB Lifestyle is designed to showcase his sonic versatility, seamlessly blending contemporary Afrobeats, street-hop textures, and immersive Amapiano grooves.
It boasts an impressive roster of high-profile collaborations and elite production talent. Leading the featured guest list is British-Nigerian rap heavyweight AJ Tracey, who anchors track 12, Poison.
The project also leans heavily on stellar production chemistry, featuring contributions from top-tier hitmakers. It balances introspective moments with high-energy club anthems.
Moving past early promotional releases like Mofe, Shy Lover, and Use Me, the full album flows through a dynamic sequence. Standout tracks like Use Me tap the genius of ace producer P.Priime, while fan favourites such as BB Lifestyle and contextual deep cuts leverage the signature soundscapes of SSSoundGawd.
Prior to release on Friday, July 24, the multi-talented singer-songwriter had revealed the official tracklist and featured artistes. The announcement generated excitement among fans and music enthusiasts, offering the first detailed look at what promises to be one of the his most ambitious releases to date.
Speaking on the conceptual direction of the project, Mavo said “Business is more than just a title. It represents a mindset. We are not just making music for the moment; we are building a lasting catalog. I feel like music is something that comes to you. You don’t go to music.”
“If there’s no passion for music, it just doesn’t… you’d like what you think, like the way you expect it to be. There has to be passion, there has to be that urge to go to the studio by yourself, not somebody calling you.”
According to the singer, he sorts his own catalogue by emotional register rather than theme. “I like my songs with feelings,” he explained.
Asked how he knows when a record is actually good, he says, “When something is sweet, it feels different. You don’t feel the same way if something is not sweet. You just chill.”
When it does land, he says he knows it in his body before he knows it anywhere else: “I’m standing up in the studio jumping, like, yo, this one’s banging. That’s how Escaladizzy felt from the inside, and later Shakabulizzy.”
Following Mavo’s recent chart successes, including global Shazam chart entries, the album serves as a definitive statement of intent. “This album is a reflection of growth, hustle, and the serious business of sound,” he enthused.
With orders now live across major digital streaming platforms, Business is shaping up to be one of the definitive listener projects of the summer.
