Veteran Nigerian rapper, producer and music executive eLDee has ignited excitement among fans after teasing a long-awaited return to music, nearly 14 years after releasing his last studio album. The hip-hop pioneer in Nigeria recently teased a new song on his Instagram account that got fans excited.
  
The announcement has stirred nostalgia across social media, with many fans welcoming the prospect of hearing new music from one of the pioneers who helped shape Nigeria’s contemporary hip-hop and Afrobeats movement.
  
Known for classics such as Bosi Gbangba, Today Today and Wash Wash, the singer has remained an influential figure in the entertainment industry despite stepping away from active recording.
   
Since dropping his fifth and last studio album, Undeniable, in 2012, and relocation to the United States, the former Trybesmen member has focused on business, real estate, technology and family life, while maintaining a quieter presence in the music scene.
  
On Wednesday, July 22, the rapper previewed a new song on his Instagram post. The record is expected to be one of the songs on his comeback EP titled Long Time Coming, which he announced in May this year.
   
In the caption, he asked fans to let him know if they want the song to be in the upcoming project, and the comment section was filled with positive replies from fans who expressed their eagerness to get new music from the veteran star who has clearly not lost his touch.
  
The latest teaser, however, suggests that the hiatus may finally be coming to an end. Although the rapper has yet to reveal a release date or details of a new project; however, the announcement has fuelled speculation that fresh music could be on the way.
   
For many music lovers, eLDee’s return would mark more than the comeback of a celebrated artiste. It would reunite listeners with one of the architects of modern Nigerian urban music, whose innovative blend of hip-hop, Afrobeats and pop helped lay the foundation for today’s globally recognised sound.
