… Recovers stolen vehicles, pumping machine, four AGO drums

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested 16 suspects in a separate operations over various offences bordering on suspected illegal petroleum product dealings, vandalism of critical national infrastructure, burglary, house-breaking, theft, received stolen property, and defilement.

The Command also recovered two vehicles, one stolen motorcycle, four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), thirteen 25-litre jerry cans containing suspected diesel, one pumping machine, one generator, and several other exhibits.

Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi who confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday said the Command was able to record the breakthrough due to its ongoing intelligence- based strategic Operations KOSAYE.

In the first operation, the operatives of the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, arrested a 51-year-old, Kabir Afolabi, a member of a suspected bunkering syndicate, at Abule-Iroko, Sango.

Babaseyi said that the suspect was arrested on July 21,2026.

Exhibits recovered at during the operations include: four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), thirteen 25-litre jerry cans containing suspected diesel, one pumping machine, and one generator allegedly used in the illegal operation.

“Investigation has commenced to apprehend other members of the syndicate and unravel the network behind the illegal activities.” The police Spokesperson said.

In the second operation, operatives attached to Ota Division of the Command arrested two suspects for allegedly vandalising a telecommunications mast cable at Ten Ten Street, Mine, Ota.

The suspects are: Nnabike Uzolo,26, years, and Chino Mgbenya, 28.

Babaseyi said that the suspects had been charged to court for the alleged offence.

He added that the Command is committed to protecting critical national infrastructure and warns that anyone found engaging in acts of vandalism will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

In the third operation, operatives attached to Idanyin Division, arrested two suspected over allege burglary and receipt of stolen items.

The suspects are: Hammed Olanrewaju and Emmanuel Victor.

Babaseyi said that they were arrested following a report of burglary at a commercial establishment.

He said that part of the stolen property was recovered from the receiver’s shop while investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining property and identify other accomplices.

In the fourth operation, detectives attached to Ajuwon Division arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Mathew Mark for allegedly stealing a Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle.

The suspect was arrested following a report received July, 3 2026, at about 1330hrs, over a theft of a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.

The Police Spokesperson said that suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.

In the fifth operation, detectives attached to the Agbado Division arrested four suspected burglars for allegedly breaking into a house in the area.

The suspects are: Sodiq Raji, 32; Zubby Nzube, 28;Adeyemi Omoyajuowo, 30; and Chimezie Iwuanya, 35.

The Police Public Relations Officer said that they were arrested on July 5, 2026 following the investigation on report of a house-breaking incident.

He said that forensic tracking of one of the stolen mobile phones led to the arrest of Sodiq who assist the police in arresting others.

Babaseyi said that some of the stolen property has been recovered, while investigation continues to recover other exhibits and apprehend fleeing accomplices.

In the sixth operation, detectives attached to the Agbado Division arrested a 50- year-old suspect, Saliu Akinwande for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.

The suspect was arrested on July 21, 2026 at about 2030hrs.

The police Spokesperson said that the victim was immediately taken for medical examination and treatment.

He noted that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for discreet investigation and prosecution.

In the seventh operation, operatives attached to the Ijebu Imushin Division foiled hijacking of mini truck along the Benin/Ore Expressway.

Babaseyi said that the operation followed information received on July 19, 2026 at about 0430hrs, that armed hoodlums had hijacked a mini truck conveying aluminium doors and window frames along the Benin/Ore Expressway.

” On sighting the Police, the hoodlums abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby forest.” he said.

The Police Image Maker said that the truck was later successfully recovered and released to its owner, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

In the eight operation, operative attached to Atan Ijebu Division recovered an abandoned bus following credible information received on July 21, 2026.

“The vehicle has been removed to the station for safekeeping pending identification and contact of the rightful owner.” Babaseyi said

In the nineth operation, operatives attached to Atan Ijebu Division arrested five suspected burglars in a separate operation in the area

The suspects are: Ayomide Odufuwa, 27; Adura Adebanjo, 26; Samuel Sunday, 25; Bashiru and one Muhammed.

Babaseyi said they were arrested on July 13 and 21, 2026.

“Operations led to the recovery of stolen clothing, household items, bedding materials, and other exhibits. Investigation is ongoing.” he added.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the police officers involved in the successful operations for their professionalism, vigilance, prompt response, and unwavering dedication to duty.

Ojajuni reaffirmed that the Command remains resolute in sustaining the momentum of Operation KOSAYE through intelligence-led policing, enhanced visibility patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations, forensic investigation, and robust community partnership to deny criminal elements any operating space within the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the Police by providing timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and facilitating prompt operational response.

The CP assured the good people of Ogun State that the Command would continue to intensify Operation KOSAYE and other proactive policing strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives, property, and critical national assets across the State.
