Ahead of August 15 gubernatorial poll in Osun, the leadership of South West Agenda for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu (SWAGA) 2.0 and other stakeholders, on Tuesday drummed support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, urging the electorate to vote massively for him during the exercise.
They underscored the need for Osun to be in the league of the progressives and restore good governance in order to create pathway for the socioeconomic growth of the state.
Speaking during the launch of SWAGA 2.0 in Osogbo, the national chairman of the group, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, implored the people of Osun State to replicate the recent victory of Governor Biodun Oyebamiji of Ekiti State, who won re-election on June 20 by voting for AMBO in Osun.
Adeyeye, however, canvassed the people of the state to also vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to win the 2027 presidential election, noting that his reforms in all sectors, namely finance, agriculture, infrastructure, education among others have endeared him to Nigerians.
He stated, “Tinubu will win second term by the grace of God. He will also win all the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Like the second term governor of Ekiti who won all the local governments during the last governorship poll in Ekiti, Tinubu will also win all the states of the federation with your support.
Also speaking, the Osun State coordinator of SWAGA, Ayo Omidiran, who also the Executive Chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC), disclosed that the mission of the group in the state was to ensure the victory of Oyebamiji during the governorship poll.
According to her, “our collective efforts have yielded remarkable political victories. The spirit of unity, organization, and commitment demonstrated through SWAGA contributed significantly to strengthening the progressive family across Nigeria.
“Similar mobilization and solidarity programmes were witnessed in Ekiti and Ondo States, where progressive forces worked together in support of our party’s electoral success. Today, that same spirit has brought us to Osun State because every progressive state deserves purposeful leadership.
“Our mission in Osun State is therefore clear. We are here to mobilize support for our distinguished governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), a man widely recognized for administrative competence, financial discipline, strategic thinking, and an unwavering commitment to public service, “Omidiran posited.
Similarly, the Osun State Coordinator, Renewed Hope Ambassador, Sunday Akere, alleged that the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke lacked the capacity to govern the state, stressing that “a government that cannot construct campaign in podium will not be able to construct viable bridge in this state.
“Let us follow someone that knows the terrain. That is Bola Oyebamiji. In all the 30 local governments let us vote massively for Oyebamiji during August 15 gubernatorial poll, “he added.
In his remark, Oyebamiji, who was represented by the former Chief Whip of Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Olalekan Olatunji, promised to provide better governance, assuring that”we will cater for the collective interest of everyone. All our capital projects will be evenly spread across all parts of Osun State.”
