The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba state, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has said the prosperity of a people depends not on the natural resources at their disposal but on the quality of leadership guiding their future.

Speaking yesterday in Jalingo, at the official unvailing of Engineer Aminu Zakari as his running mate for the 2027 general election, Bwacha stressed that effective leadership, rather than the abundance of resources, is the key to national and state development. He said months of consultations with residents across the state had shaped his understanding of the aspirations of the people.

According to him, farmers are demanding better roads to access markets, young graduates are seeking employment opportunities, while mothers are calling for improved schools, healthcare facilities and safer communities.

“The greatest cry of our people is not for another politician. It is for trustworthy leadership,” he said.

Bwacha also explained the rationale behind the selection of Enginerr Aminu Zakari as his running mate, describing the decision as one based on competence, integrity and a commitment to public service rather than political convenience.

He said Zakari’s emergence reflects his administration’s belief in empowering young people with leadership responsibilities, noting that the future cannot be postponed by continually reserving leadership positions for older generations.

The PDP candidate said his administration, if elected, would focus on agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, enterprise development and accountable governance. He pledged to build a government that listens to the people, plans responsibly and prioritises service over personal interests.

Bwacha said his campaign was not about individuals but about improving the lives of ordinary Tarabans, including farmers, traders, teachers, artisans and families across the state.

He also called on residents to reject politics based on fear, division, ethnicity and religion, urging them instead to embrace unity and work collectively for the state’s development.

According to him, his vision is to build a Taraba where every child has equal opportunities, no community is neglected, hard work is rewarded, justice is fairly administered and government remains accountable to the people.

Bwacha urged young people, women, civil servants, traditional rulers, religious leaders and all stakeholders to join his movement, expressing confidence that with unity, faith and collective commitment, Taraba could achieve sustainable growth and prosperity.

He called on the people to choose courage, unity and service over division and self-interest, saying such decisions would define the legacy of the present generation. He also prayed for God’s blessings upon the people of Taraba state and Nigeria.
