The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), under the leadership of its National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, is saddened by another round of Sunday night terror attack that claimed the life of a former legislator of Riyom Local Government Area.
According to local sources within the affected villages in Torok of Rim Community, Riyom Local Government Area, Hon. Daniel Danjuma Chong (aka Hon. Star), a former Councillor of Rim Ward was murdered by gunshots riddled on him by suspected armed Fulani alongside hired bandits, who invaded the village at about 10:45pm of 2nd August, 2026.
“The attackers, who reportedly came from Kess, a Fulani settlement popularly known as Bangai-Fulani, invaded the community at about 11:00pm, shooting sporadically, inflicted a fatal gunshot injury on Mr. David Dachollom Danjuma before fleeing the scene back to Bangai-Fulani.
“BYM extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and the people of Torok Community, and wishes Mr. David Dachollom Danjuma a speedy recovery. We call on security agencies to, as a matter of urgency and Plateau State Government, not only seek out the immediate arrest of the perpetrators of this terror, but fundamentally dislodge all terrorist enclaves with Bangai-Fulani inclusive otherwise, Plateau State and its environs may know no peace at all,” the National Publicity Secretary of BYM, Rwang Tengwong, disclosed this yesterday.
He equally called for outright ban on open grazing, which has continually been abused as a cover to foster terrorism and banditry in Riyom and the State at large.
“The continuous killing of innocent citizens is unacceptable. Those responsible must face justice”, Tengwong added.
