Zamfara NDC demands govt accountability over worsening insecurity

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Zamfara State Chapter, has demanded accountability from the government over worsening insecurity situation in the State.

The party said it is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Alh. Bello Umar Abdullahi ST, who reportedly succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during a brutal attack by armed bandits.

This was contained in a statement issued by the State publicity secretary of the party, Kasim AlMustapha and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital.

According to the statement, the painful loss is another grim reminder of the alarming state of insecurity that has engulfed Zamfara State.

“Almost every day, innocent citizens are killed, kidnapped, displaced, or robbed of their means of livelihood, while communities continue to live in fear and uncertainty, the statement added.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Zamfara State Chapter, Alhaji Surajo Garba Mai Katako, described the incident as heartbreaking and unacceptable.

He expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives his loved ones the strength and patience to bear this painful loss.

“The NDC is, however, compelled to state that the continuous loss of innocent lives reflects a serious failure of leadership and governance”

“The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. Sadly, despite repeated promises made to the people of Zamfara to restore peace and end insecurity, the reality on the ground continues to tell a different story”

“The people of Zamfara voted with hope, believing they would witness decisive action against banditry and other violent crimes. Instead, insecurity has persisted, communities remain under siege, and families continue to bury their loved ones”

“Campaign promises must translate into concrete action, not repeated assurances while citizens remain exposed to danger”

“It is equally disturbing that many tragic incidents have been met with silence or delayed official responses. At a time when grieving families need reassurance and visible leadership, the people deserve a government that is present, compassionate, and actively engaged in confronting the security crisis”

“The Nigeria Democratic Congress therefore calls on the Zamfara State Government to move beyond rhetoric and urgently implement practical, measurable, and sustainable strategies to secure every part of the State”

“We also urge the Federal Government and all security agencies to intensify operations, strengthen intelligence gathering, improve inter-agency coordination, and ensure that those responsible for these barbaric attacks are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted”

“As a responsible opposition party, the NDC will continue to speak for the people and hold those in authority accountable”

“Democracy demands that elected leaders answer for the promises they make, particularly when the lives and safety of citizens are at stake. Every naira allocated to security must be accounted for, and every policy must be judged by its ability to protect the people”

“We reaffirm our solidarity with every family that has suffered as a result of insecurity in Zamfara State. Their pain is our pain, and their call for justice and security is a call that must not be ignored”

“On behalf of the Chairman, Alhaji Surajo Garba Mai Katako, the State Executive Committee, and the entire members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Zamfara State Chapter, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Bello Umar Abdullahi ST”

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus, comfort his family, and grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
