Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, on Tuesday evening flagged off the township dualisation of a three-kilometer Mashi-Daura road at the cost of N5.4 billion.

Speaking at the event which held in Mashi council area, Radda said when completed, the road dualisation would boost commercial activities at the main market in the area.

He said the market has been major commercial centre for decades, with people coming from within and outside the state to buy and sell various products.

He, however, said the market had expanded in recent years, thus leading to much road congestion during market days, and affecting free flow of traffic.

Radda said the road, which links Mashi and Daura council areas, is a major route used by both private and commercial vehicle owners on a daily basis for their day to day activities.

He said the congestion setback among other related challenges, promoted for the dualisation of the road, which would help boost socio-economic activities in the area.

The governor said the road would be equipped with drainages and solar-powered lights, even as he called upon the company handling the project to ensure quality and timely completion of the road.

Radda also assured that his administration would continue to execute similar projects that have positive bearing on lives of the people across the state’s 34 councils.

He expressed his administration’s commitment to ensuring judicious use of public funds for the socio-economic of the state.

Speaking, the Commissioner, Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Sani Magaji, said the project is to be executed by MotherCat, with a completion period of six months.
