The Embassy of Belgium in Abuja has celebrated the country’s National Day with a colourful dinner, bringing together members of the Belgian community, government officials, diplomats and Nigerian partners in a demonstration of the enduring relationship between Belgium and Nigeria.

According to a post shared on the embassy’s official social media platforms, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate Belgium’s National Day while reflecting on the long-standing friendship and growing partnership between both nations.

The embassy noted that the occasion brought together the vibrant Belgian community in Nigeria alongside its valued Nigerian partners, highlighting the importance of the strong bilateral relationship built on friendship, dialogue, trade, cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.

It added that Belgium remains committed to strengthening its engagement with Nigeria by deepening existing partnerships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration and shared prosperity.

The embassy also expressed appreciation to all guests and partners who attended the celebration, describing the event as a memorable occasion that underscored the shared commitment of both countries to stronger diplomatic and economic relations.

Among those who graced the occasion were a top administrative staff member of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Chukwunyere Moses Ifeanyi, popularly known as Moses of Africa. He is a fast-rising public administrator with a track record of excellence in public speaking and leadership. Founder and Executive Director, Moses Mentoring Foundation For Leadership, Peace and Development.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Ifeanyi described the celebration as a reflection of the strong diplomatic ties between Belgium and Nigeria, noting that such engagements create platforms for deeper collaboration in education, technology, innovation, youth development and economic growth.

He commended the Belgian Embassy for sustaining meaningful diplomatic engagement with Nigeria, adding that partnerships built on mutual respect and shared values remain critical to addressing global challenges and unlocking opportunities for sustainable development.

According to him, the gathering also offered an opportunity for stakeholders from both countries to exchange ideas, strengthen professional networks and explore areas of cooperation that would benefit their respective peoples.

He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting leadership development, peace-building and youth empowerment through his foundation, stressing that international partnerships remain essential to nurturing the next generation of responsible leaders across Africa.
