Idris canvasses ethical frameworks to protect originality in AI age

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the creative economy, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has advocated development of frameworks that protect originality, reward creators and encourage responsible innovation.

Speaking at the Advertising Industry Colloquium (AIC) 4.0 in Lagos yesterday, the minister insisted that the imperative of collaborations in changing the narrative cannot be over emphasised.

Represented by the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace, he further assured that the “government will continue to support policies that foster innovation while safeguarding intellectual property rights and ensuring that technological advancement benefits both creators and consumers.”

Saying the future of advertising will not only be determined by technology, he added it will also be shaped by the quality of our ideas, the integrity of institutions and the courage of the nation’s leadership.

Idris also said: “Let us therefore embrace innovation without abandoning ethics; pursue growth without compromising public trust; and build an advertising industry that reflects the creativity, resilience and aspirations of the Nigerian people.

Together, we can position Nigeria as Africa’s leading hub for responsible advertising, creative excellence and digital innovation.”
