Afrobeats singer Davido has responded to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor took a dig at his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The exchange happened as political activities intensify in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign event in the state, Okpebholo criticised Adeleke over his frequent dancing at public functions.

The Edo governor questioned Adeleke’s priorities, suggesting that the Osun governor had devoted too much attention to dancing instead of governing the state.

Okpebholo reportedly joked that Adeleke dances before carrying out different activities, including signing documents, eating breakfast and drinking tea. Davido appeared to respond to the remark on Friday through his Instagram Story.
Rather than directly addressing Okpebholo’s comments, the singer posted an image purported to be the governor’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result.

The result showed a mixture of grades, including D7 in subjects such as Commerce, Economics, Christian Religious Knowledge and English Language, while Government was listed as E8 and Mathematics as C5. Davido did not accompany the image with a caption or explain why he shared it.

However, the post came shortly after Okpebholo’s comments about Adeleke, leading social media users to view it as a response from the singer.

Davido’s relationship with the Osun governor has made him a familiar figure around Adeleke’s political activities. The singer has repeatedly shown support for his uncle and has used his large social media following to speak about issues involving him.

The latest exchange has therefore attracted considerable attention online, particularly because both men are prominent figures with strong followings. Okpebholo is currently campaigning for the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the Osun governorship election, while Adeleke is seeking another term in office.
The election has generated increased political activity across the state, with candidates and their supporters stepping up their campaigns in the final days before voting.

For now, Davido has not made any further public comment on the post, while Okpebholo has also not publicly responded to the singer’s apparent jab.

The incident has nevertheless added a fresh layer of celebrity and social media drama to the ongoing Osun political contest.
