AI, Process Improvement key to enterprise competitiveness, economic growth – Expert

Motunrayo Kabirat Ogundairo

AI-driven supply chain intelligence and process improvement expert, Motunrayo Kabirat Ogundairo, has emphasized that organizations seeking sustainable economic growth must combine artificial intelligence with disciplined process improvement, data-driven decision-making, and enterprise transformation.

In a statement made available to Vanguard, Ogundairo said that while governments and businesses continue to increase investments in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and digital transformation, many organizations fail to realize measurable returns because they automate inefficient processes instead of improving them.

According to her, sustainable economic competitiveness depends on an organization’s ability to integrate artificial intelligence, process improvement, supply chain intelligence and business analytics into a unified enterprise strategy that continuously improves operational performance.

“Technology alone does not transform an organization,” Ogundairo said. “Real transformation begins with understanding how work is performed, identifying operational constraints, improving processes, and then applying artificial intelligence to scale those improvements. Without strong processes, even the most advanced AI systems cannot deliver sustainable value.”

Drawing from her experience leading enterprise transformation, process improvement and AI-driven initiatives across Amazon Web Services (AWS), MTN Nigeria, Blue Bird, UPS and other multinational organizations, she noted that many digital transformation programmes underperform because organizations focus on technology deployment before addressing underlying operational inefficiencies.
She explained that organizations capable of embedding process improvement into their transformation strategy are better positioned to improve productivity, optimize supply chain performance, strengthen customer experience, reduce operational waste and increase long-term resilience.

“Data becomes valuable only when it supports better decisions and continuous process improvement,” she stated. “Organizations that consistently outperform their peers are those that transform operational intelligence into measurable business outcomes through disciplined execution.”

Ogundairo further stressed that enterprise leaders must place equal emphasis on governance, stakeholder alignment, operational excellence and performance measurement as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into business operations.

She advocated stronger collaboration among technology leaders, business executives and policymakers to ensure investments in AI and digital transformation translate into measurable improvements in organizational efficiency, innovation and economic productivity.

“Artificial intelligence should amplify operational excellence” she said. “The organizations that will lead the future economy are those that combine innovation with continuous process improvement, strong governance and data-driven execution.”

Ogundairo’s professional experience spans AI product strategy, enterprise process improvement, customer lifecycle management, supply chain analytics, manufacturing optimization and digital transformation across the technology, telecommunications, logistics and manufacturing sectors. Through her work, she has contributed to revenue growth, operational efficiency, customer retention and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, demonstrating how process improvement and intelligent technologies can work together to create sustainable business value.
