A distinguished lawyer, scholar and alumnus of Baptist Academy, Professor Alfred Bandele Kasunmu, has died.

Kasunmu passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, August 9, 2026, according to an obituary announcement by the National Executive Council of the Baptist Academy Old Students Association (BAOSA).

He was a member of the Baptist Academy Class of 1953 and was described by the association as a towering figure in law, scholarship and national development.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), mentor, scholar and trustee of BAOSA, Kasunmu was recognised for his contributions to society and his commitment to integrity, discipline and service.

Last year, BAOSA honoured him with its Order of Excellence Award al.
